WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE
Welcome to Priory Catholic Primary School’s website. We are a school for children aged 4 to 11 and are closely linked with the Parish of Our Lady Help of Christians in St Marychurch and Plymouth Diocese.
As an academy we are a member of Plymouth CAST, a company set up by the Diocese of Plymouth to create a more secure environment for the constituent schools so that they can better serve the mission of the Catholic and Anglican diocese. Whilst many children in our school are Catholic, where space is available, we also admit children whose parents wish their children to receive a Catholic education. All children are treated equally within the school.
Priory is a community dedicated to achieving excellence for all, and to the spiritual, social, and personal development of our pupils into responsible, generous, and caring members of society. The Catholic Faith is central to the day to day life of our school and to all aspects of the curriculum; it is not an added extra. We place importance upon prayer and gospel values as well as R.E lessons, acts of worship and assemblies.
We believe that a school is made up of people and not buildings and in the light of this we hope everyone in our school community enjoys being a member of it, and feels a personal commitment to it because it is ‘ours’. Each child is unique, and your child is very special. The individuality of each child is very important to us and inclusion is deeply embedded in the heart of our school. We strive to instill our pupils with the qualities of caring, tolerance and co-operation. We hope we can work in partnership to create a bond of trust and support between home and school for your child.
This is a small school in which we hope to foster a real family atmosphere and a caring Christian Community, hardworking and courteous. Each child is encouraged to feel confident of his or her own worth and ability. Our aim is to ensure learning here is a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all, based on high expectations and challenging targets: lessons are interactive and engaging, and we vary our teaching methods to respond to different learning styles.
We welcome and encourage you to visit us to fully appreciate what we have to offer. Our children love the opportunity to show visitors around our school and either I, or a member of staff will be available to answer any questions.
