BUTTERCUP CLASS (R/1)                            W/C 8th September 2025

Wow what an amazing first week we had in Buttercup Class!
We are super proud of how well all the children have settled in.
This week our talk through stories text is Hugless Douglas and the Y1s are beginning to explore the great text 'Meesha Makes Friends' in English.

Our RE topic for this half term is 'Creation and Covenant'. We will begin by learning about The Creation story.

In History we are going to be learning about the history of toys this half term, which will include a visit to Bygones in a few weeks time.

Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday. Please can all children come into school in their PE kits on these days.

Please can I remind you all of the importance of reading with your child for just 10 mins a day. It really does make a huge difference to the progress that they make. Also that it is really important that your child brings their reading books and reading record to school EVERYDAY to ensure that we can change their books when required.
At the moment the Reception children have wordless reading books for you to share together and from next week they will come home with sound cards of the sounds they will have learnt. New sounds will be added weekly. I will send home supporting information with them next week.

Thank you for your continued support and as always please let me know if you have any questions or worries.

Many thanks,

Miss King

BLUEBELL CLASS (Y2/3)                             W/C: 6th October 2025

We have had a great start back to school in Bluebell class, the children are already working very hard which is great to see. Well done Bluebells! Please can you help your children to learn their lines for our performance on the 11th November.

In English this half term, we are looking at the book 'Look Up' by Nathan Bryon. The end of the topic will see the children writing a recount diary entry to describe a flight to space. They will learn how to use subordination and coordination, expanded noun phrases and adverbials as well as recap how to use a thesaurus to revamp their vocabularies and use more inventive words in their writing. They will also explore a range of punctuation correctly – including full stops, capital letters, and bullet points.

In Maths this half term, the year 2 children are looking at Unit 1: Numbers to 100. The year 3 children are learning Unit 1: Place value within 1,000. They have been doing fantastically and should be proud of all their achievements so far.

Our RE topic is 'Creation and Covenant' this half term, in which we will be learning about the days of Creation, days that are made holy, and the dignity of the human person. We are also learning how to sripture using Bible references. We have been talking about why it is important to treat others well and treat people how we want to be treated.

In our wider curriculum topics and units this half term the children will be learning the music for the play with Mrs Harvey, the Stone Age to Iron Age in History, and Rocks in Science.
We have also started learning our words for the play, the children are working very hard with this already.

We are in for a very exciting half term and we can't wait to see the progress that the children make.

Many thanks for your continued support,
Mrs Caddick and the Bluebell class team
